Hemp Hunter Labs, Inc. was founded by Hunter Friedland in 2018, during his studies at Cornell University. Interested in the newly-formed New York State Hemp Initiative, Hunter was accepted into the National Science Foundation Course at Cornell University for agricultural science and entrepreneurship, where he conducted 30+ customer discovery interviews with NY hemp farmers in the southern tier and mid Hudson valley.
The survey results pinpointed two major challenges for the burgeoning NY hemp industry; highly unreliable seed genetics and a significant lack of hemp processors needed to process CBD extracts.
Hemp Hunter Labs is a New York State licensed hemp processor for extracts and distillations of cannabidiols and a formulator of CBD infused products including beverages, foods, supplements and cosmetic and skin care topicals.
Planned location for Hemp Hunter Labs is near the prestigious Cornell University's AgriTech campus in Geneva, New York, providing access to Cornell's elite PhD researchers in Integrative Plant Science.
Hemp Hunter Labs is currently working with Cornell University to sponsor research on hemp seed genetics and processes and formulations for the extraction and refinement of hemp biomass.
Hemp Hunter Labs is designing its facility to be cGMP compliant and establishing supply chains with organic farming cooperatives in the Southern Tier.
